The First Branch of the Southern India Regional Council of ICAI in Kerala, the Ernakulam Branch, was set up on 1st December 1967. It is the largest Branch in the State with more than 1500 members and more than 5000 students. It has the privilege of being the first Branch of the Institute to construct its own building which was inaugurated in August 1986. The Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI)has been adjudged as the best branch of ICAI at the All India Level at the 61st annual function of ICAI. The award is the most prestigious recognition of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Ernakulam branch was selected from more than 200 branches spread across various parts of India. The guest of honour congratulated the Ernakulam branch for achieving this unique recognition and encouraged the members to scale greater heights in the future years. The award function was addressed by sri.D.K.Mittal,Secretary,Ministry of Corporate Affairs,New Delhi,sri Suresh Prabhu,former Union Cabinet Minister and the ICAI president CA.G.Ramaswamy. The award function was organised at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi and was attended by more than 1000 chartered accountants from various parts of the world.
